TON MARTENS Book: Floorrubbing Death cell 601, Oranjehotel, Scheveningen

Book: Floorrubbing Death cell 601, Oranjehotel, Scheveningen

The idea for making this floor-rubbing originated when I heard the poem “THE EIGHTEEN DEATH” on the radio around May 5, 1990.
I already knew this poem by Jan Campert from my high school days, but now I really heard it.
It literally starts with size and space. . .
It immediately formed an image in my head.
In the summer of 1990, the realization of the floor-rubbing took place in the preserved ‘Death cell 601’ in the House of Detention in Scheveningen.
The same location which was the reason for this poem.
The death row itself is now part of the National Monument Oranjehotel.
